Metaphor Monday

"The basis of fairy tale is in reality. The basis of reality is fairy tales."
-- George Baxt and Milton Subotsky
"City of the Dead"

It's Metaphor Monday on The After Show. This is the day when we call things what they are. No Similes allowed. Not today.

Citing free speech, eleven Republican Attorney’s General want to stop the investigation into Exxon over lying to its shareholders and the public about Climate Change; Department of Homeland Security Secretary, John Kelly, says he doesn’t know how to stop domestic terrorism if it isn’t done by brown people at a border; and, US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, accuses the New York City Police Department of being ineffectual in stemming the city’s murder epidemic that doesn’t exist.

For The Last Halfwe report Carrier workers are not happy about losing their jobs after Trump’s “deal;” and, the second round of the French elections will be the far-right versus the European Union.

All that plus, the Connect! Unite! Act! Daily Kos Community Calendar and more, on The After Show with Wink & Justice.

"Just listen to those crazy tunes!"

While this America settles in the mould of its vulgarity, heavily thickening to empire, And protest, only a bubble in the molten mass, pops and sighs out, and the mass hardens,

I sadly smiling remember that the flower fades to make fruit, the fruit rots to make earth. Out of the mother; and through the spring exultances, ripeness and decadence; and home to the mother.

You making haste haste on decay: not blameworthy; life is good, be it stubbornly long or suddenly A mortal splendor: meteors are not needed less than mountains: shine, perishing republic.

But for my children, I would have them keep their distance from the thickening center; corruption Never has been compulsory, when the cities lie at the monster’s feet there are left the mountains.

And boys, be in nothing so moderate as in love of man, a clever servant, insufferable master. There is the trap that catches noblest spirits, that caught—they say—God, when he walked on earth.
